My go to baby products for the first year

Oh my gosh, being pregnant was just a bunch of nausea mixed in with unsolicited advice! I still couldn’t tell you which one was worse. I avoided the internet during a lot of my pregnancy. There was too much info out there and unreliable articles that I broke out in hives thinking about it. Until it was time to build a registry.

I asked a few friends for their top 10 items. Then I asked them their top 3. I added the top 3 to my registry and didn’t ask questions, I trusted them. That is how I built most of my registry to be honest. I found a blogger Matti Gresham who I really liked and felt like we were on the same wavelength during pregnancy and I took note of her list as well.

So maybe, if you trust me, or we are like-minded or you just want to know what worked for us you will find value in this list. If you don't trust me, if we aren't like-minded and you don't care what worked- its still nice of you to be here reading this ;)

Top baby products in the Jarrell household:

The Baby Brezza - This was a gift that I will never be able to pay back. I unexpectedly had to give William formula and this showed up on my doorstep. Think of it as a keurig for baby bottles!

Gripe Water - HICCUPS BE GONE! William and I shared hiccups the entire pregnancy. He would get them, I would get them 2 minutes later. It was a vicious cycle. This is one item they can have at 2 weeks of age, and it was a dream.

Snuggle Me- This is an organic version of the dockAtot. I loved their instagram, and they always are doing giveways and discount codes. William snuggled in this his first few months home!

Storage for Changing table - This isnt the exact one we have, but close. We hung this (securely) above the changing table and it made every diaper change a breeze. I have every single item in reach and never have to step away from William and leave him alone on the table. Safety first people!

Teethers - ok! These are amazing. You can put ice cubes in these and let them go to town while teething. Once they graduate to food you can put frozen fruit in them. The best $5 I’ve spent.

Car Mirror - You might be like “this is over the top for a mirror” but the remote clips to your visor in front so you have full control of the power and volume. I call this “Williams TV” he definitely isn’t dependent on having this on, but for long trips it keeps him occupied long enough to pull over somewhere safe!

Nose Frida - Colds and babies are the worst. You can’t give them ANYTHING for months. So this nose frida was my lifeline to keep William breathing through stuffy nights.

City Mini Stroller  I was really doing my research on strollers. I knew I would be going places alone the first 3 months while I was on leave and I was scared to death of how I would do it. I can pop this guy open within seconds, and close it with one hand. Worried its not the same brand as the car seat? Most strollers sell attachments separately so you don’t have to compromise. We got ours for $20 on Amazon.

Zipper PJ's - Once Wiliam was born I returned every pair of pajamas I could for zipper pj’s. Holy moly did my life become a lot easier, and I disrupted his sleep so much less during midnight diaper changes.

Aquaphor- toss the butt paste, Aquaphor does the job plus some. Just tonight I put this on Williams booty and his foot where he has a bad scratch. This was pediatrician recommended. She said “use it on everything” and we do.

Also, some pro advice I got one time: Don't get too excited and wash everything before the baby comes! They might skip newborn altogether or you might have so many 3 month outfits you'll never get to them all!

Wash a few outfits per size- the ones you can’t wait to see them in. Be patient, keep the tags on everything else. At the end of each size go exchange the unworn items for the next size. Or if you figure out your kid doesn't need any overalls at 3 months old, exchange them for zipper pjs.

Thats some of the most solid advice I got. I’m still exchanging clothes at Carters and returning stuff he never got to, like every pair of denim he has. What baby wears skinny jeans?! These aren't questions we ask ourselves pre baby.

Pro tip from the doctor- If your baby is under 10 lbs they will be in newborn for at least a minute. So at your 39 week check up if your baby is 8lbs, yes- they will need newborn clothes!
